With the weather officially arrived as summer, we have another great evening program: SPAC Presents Astronomy Night, with amateur astronomer and Audubon Naturalist, Bob Vickers.
Sunset on the 24th is at 8:15pm so we will officially start at 8:30pm. Please arrive at the Visitor's Center at 8 pm for check-in, payment and an intro.
Folks are welcome to bring their own binoculars or telescopes as well as blankets, star maps/apps, etc; individuals with scopes should also arrive a little early to get set up. Also, it's good to keep white light to a minimum, so bring red flashlights, to preserve night vision.
Bob will start by pointing out constellations and things visible to the naked eye, then move to looking at stuff through the scopes. We should be able to see Jupiter and Saturn well. Also, double stars, different kinds of star clusters, nebulae, other galaxies, etc. It will be a new Moon night so no Moon will be visible.
Reservations are required. Contact Mitch at firstname.lastname@example.org or 662-252-1155
